HCC Board Surprised By Presidential Leave

The Hopkinsville Community College Board of Directors say they were surprised by the decision to put President, Dr. James Selbe on leave, without consulting them. Board Chairwoman, Bette Sue Wallace says she was surprised to see the forwarded email, from KCTCS President, Michael McCall.

The board was not notified by McCall, but instead received a forwarded copy of the email from Director of Communications, Rena Young. Wallace says she and vice chairman John Rittenhouse had a conference call with McCall early Tuesday afternoon, during which he explained the decision.

Wallace told the News Edge she and Rittenhouse were told the basics, but even they were not allowed to know all the details.

Rittenhouse says he was surprised the board was not informed about the decision.

He adds he appreciated the conference call with the KCTCS President.

Both Wallace and Rittenhouse are offering support to Selbe during this investigation.
