From the News Edge: Transportation officials are reporting a traffic backup along the westbound lanes of I-24 in the work zone from near the Kentucky-Tennessee State Line to the Fort Campbell Boulevard exit. The contractor is pouring concrete as part of ongoing pavement rehabilitation work around the 89-mile marker, near the Pembroke-Oak Grove exit. While concrete trucks are moving in and out of this work area delivering material, the traffic backup appears to be more related to heavy traffic along the westbound lanes today. Westbound I-24 traffic in this work zone is backed up about 3 to 4 miles at this time with traffic slowed to about 35 mph in the area. To help reduce traffic congestion in this area, regular commuters who normally travel this section of I-24 westbound are being asked to seek an alternate route, if possible...............................................................................................................................A Night With The Blues is Saturday night at the Alhambra Theatre. Fiber Cable To Be Reconnected Friday Night

An important communications link across Kentucky Lake will be restored this weekend. Communications technicians will reconnect a fiber optic cable across the Eggners Ferry Bridge Friday night. The cable was severed when the Delta Mariner struck the bridge in January of last year.

AT&T temporarily restored internet and telephone service by running a cable across the bottom of the lake. The new cable has been strung across the bridge and workers will tie it into the main lines.

Transportation officials say the work will begin at both ends of the bridge around 9:00pm Friday. Traffic should not be impacted by the cable reconnection.
