Damage and power outages were reported in southern Christian County as the result of the severe thunderstorms that rolled through the area early Wednesday morning.
There were numerous reports of damage and power lines down along Kentucky 117. Reports included uprooted trees, a tree blown over onto a house, and a possible building knocked down. There was report of damage to a home in the 15000 block of Herndon-Oak Grove Road.
There was also a report of a roof being blown off a house on Little River Church Road. Reports of grain bins being blown over were received from the area of Fentress Lane. There was a report of a barn blown down on Millers Mill Road. There were no reports of injuries received as a result of the storm activity.
A tractor-trailer was blown over on I-24, near the 85-mile marker, about a mile east of the Hopkinsville-Oak Grove exit. The News Edge spoke to the driver, Lyle Juedes, on the scene.
Officials with Pennyrile Rural Electric reported power outages affecting the Pembroke and Oak Grove areas in Christian County, the Clifty and Rosewood areas in Todd County, and scattered outages in Trigg County. At one point, more than 3000 customers were without power, most in Christian and Todd County. In the immediate aftermath of the storms, both industrial parks had lost power. Officials with Pennyrile note that most of the outages were due to broken power poles that pulled down power lines.
