State Looking At Asian Carp Problem

The state Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources is looking at options to keep Asian carp from spreading across the state and wants fishermen to go online to take a survey about proposals. Earlier this month, the department said that Asian carp can outcompete native fish for food and also threaten Kentucky ecological systems, recreational boaters, anglers and the commercial and sport fishing industries.

Fish and Wildlife is looking at proposing a regulation to restrict all movement of Asian carp, regardless of how it's caught or collected. Also under consideration is a regulation that would restrict movement of all live bait fish from the water in which it is caught or collected to any other water body to avoid accidentally moving Asian carp.

Fishermen wanting to complete the survey can find it online at http://fw.ky.gov.
