US Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell is urging his fellow leaders to start now on reining in our nation's out-of-control debt. Monday, Senator McConnell, on the Senator Floor, addressed his fellow senators.
He says they need to put together a proposal that gives new confidence to the American people in Congress's ability to work together with an eye toward improving lives and prospects.
McConnell says they need to devote the same kind of energy to this issue that they have devoted to other great national threats in the past and that means serious bipartisan negotiation, careful committee consideration, and tough decisions and the kinds of votes that reflect them.
