Carolyn Bland Returns To Trigg Seniors Center

Trigg County Senior Citizens Center Director Carolyn Bland says she is thankful to be back at the center after her recent bout with spinal meningitis.
Bland was one of a number of patients in Tennessee and across the nation that received a tainted steriod injection. Bland was initially hospitalized at St. Thomas in Nashville in October and remained in the hospital for a number of weeks as she was being treated. During her first appearance following her illness, Bland told the WKDZ Country Club listening audience that she is thankful for the all community support she has received for the past four and a half months.

Bland also thanked her staff and co-workers for their support.

Bland said she has undergone nine spinal taps to track the progress of disease and the effectiveness of the medicine that she is being given to combat the spinal meningitis infection caused by the steriod injection that came from the New England Compounding Center. Bland says, despite the side effects of the medication and the tests she continually undergoes as the result of the infection, she is thankful to be alive. She adds she will likely retire from the Trigg County Senior Citizens Center in the near future, but said she is not ready to announce a date yet.
