Staff Meteorologist Tracking Wintry Weather

Staff Meteorologist David Bryant is tracking a fast moving winter weather system that will race across the area Thursday night and Friday morning.

A cold front will drop to our south overnight and keep temperatures on Thursday in the lower 30s. Precipitation is expected to enter the region late Thursday night. Periods of sleet and snow will likely occur after midnight and continue though midday on Friday.

Right now, ice and snow accumulation is expected to remain light with most locations receiving less than one inch. Regardless of the exact amounts that occur, even light amounts of snow and ice will pose travel problems for the area. Keep it tuned to your Weather Edge for the latest information on this developing weather situation.

Kentucky Transportation Cabinet District 2 Highway Crews plan to pre-treat area highways to prepare for the threat of winter weather is expected to move through the region on Thursday night into Friday morning.
