The third man convicted of murdering a Clarksville teen in Oak Grove in 2008 will serve 50 years in prison, after being sentenced Tuesday in Christian Circuit Court. Jordan Young appeared before Circuit Judge John Atkins, where defense attorney Chris Woodall asked the court to take into consideration his youthful offender status.
Judge Atkins says he did have reservations about the youthful offender status impacting his sentence, but case law dictates as long as he goes on the record denying probation, it would not.
Young, along with Derrick James and Kenneth Hudson, were convicted in the death of 18-year old Shyara Olavarria in May 2008. Both Young and James have appeals that will be headed to the State Supreme Court, while Hudson's appeal has already been overturned.
