The Hopkinsville Christian & Todd County Association of Realtors has announced the launch of their Employer-Assisted Housing Initiative, called Hopkinsville HOPE, which stands for Homeownership for Performing Employees. The initiative is an innovative effort to work in partnership with government agencies, non-profit organizations, lenders, and businesses to increase affordable homeownership opportunities for the Hopkinsville-Christian County workforce.
Association President Bruce Smiley says by working with local businesses, lenders, non-profit organizations and local governments, his organization is hoping to make homeownership more accessible for more working families.
Hopkinsville Mayor Dan Kemp states he is excited about the Board of Realtor’s new Employer Assisted Housing Incentive Program and adds that the program should further enhance real estate sales, thereby making the community grow.
Employer-Assisted Housing is an employer benefit that helps employees move beyond the most common hurdles to homeownership, often within neighborhoods located near the workplace. EAH benefits include education, counseling and financial assistance.
Homebuyer & homeownership education, conducted by realtors, non-profit organizations and lenders at the workplace, can help prepare potential homebuyers for homeownership or help current homeowners protect their investment and prevent foreclosure. Counseling, provided with a certified counselor, helps employees understand their options for homeownership, correct credit issues, and learn budgeting to become mortgage ready or avoid foreclosure. Financial assistance, such as forgivable loans, grants, or matched savings, provided by the employer helps employees purchase a home and can be leveraged with local, state and federal assistance programs.
