Often times, people at Fort Campbell say it is unique among military installations because of the population outside the gate, but Garrison Commander, Colonel Buck Dellinger says they strive on a regular basis to ensure that soldiers, and their families, want to come to the post. Colonel Dellinger, who spoke to a group of community leaders recently, says he and 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) Commander, Major General James McConville have on vision.
He adds that this vision is obviously working in the post's, and local communities', favor.
Aside from the population and the vast amount of money the post annual pumps back into the local economy, Dellinger says they are unique in another way.
He told community leaders that he gives a speech every week to incoming soldiers about what they need to focus on during their time here.
And he adds he knows he can keep that promise because of the support the local army receives from the communities and their members, after all that is why Fort Campbell is known throughout the army as the place to serve.
