Hopkinsville Girl Killed In Tuesday Accident

Christian County Coroner Dorris Lamb has identified the girl killed in a single vehicle accident Tuesday night as 4-year old Brooklyn Coleman, of Velma Drive, in Hopkinsville. The accident occurred just after 6:00pm on the Martin Luther King Jr. Bypass, near Martin Luther King Jr. Elementary School.

The News Edge was on the scene and spoke with Captain Mike Seis of the Hopkinsville Police Department.

The driver of the vehicle was the child's mother, 29-year old Amber Coleman, who was transported to Jennie Stuart Medical Center for treatment of what were termed non-life threatening injuries. Police say another passenger in the vehicle, 29-year old Brian Baker, of Shelbyville, sustained no serious injuries. Hopkinsville Police tell the News Edge that the girl was not in a car seat at the time of the accident, while her mother and Baker were wearing seatbelt.

In addition to her mother, Brooklyn is survived by her father, Thomas Coleman, of Hopkinsville.
