Sequestration is a term that, like fiscal cliff, has become standard vocabulary in the area, and it leaves a number of questions for Fort Campbell. Garrison Commander, Colonel Buck Dellinger says it is still unclear when and what will officially come down the pipeline.
He adds while Fort Campbell will be included in the estimated 500-billion dollar cut to the Department of Defense, for the most part soldiers should be spared.
To be precise, 1.8-billion of the budget is soldier pay, 1.4-billion is retiree pay and 295-million is civilian pay. Dellinger says he and other officials on post are committed to making sure Fort Campbell is now and continues to remain a world class army home, despite the uncertainty ahead.
