If it seems like a large number of people around you have been sick, it is not just your imagination. State health officials say the flu is being felt from hospitals to workplaces across Kentucky, as there has been a report of an upswing in flu-like illnesses.
Gwenda Bond, a spokesperson for the Cabinet for Health and Family Services, says the outbreak of flu in Kentucky has been widespread for five weeks, which is somewhat earlier than usual. Bond did point out that health officials are not aware of any shortages of flu vaccines for those who are now looking to be protected against the bug.
