After nearly losing the entire season, the National Hockey League will at least have a shortened season and the Stanley Cup playoffs this year. Officials with the Nashville Predators have announced that while it took much longer than anyone had hoped, the league has a new 10-year collective bargaining agreement with the players association.
Predators officials go on to say the agreement gives the franchise the opportunity for long-term financial stability, which is a situation that did not exist under the old agreement. It also provides the likelihood of labor peace for the next 10 years. In a letter to fans, the team expressed its appreciation for the support and loyalty of the fans, sponsors and partners during what has been a long and difficult process.
With the new agreement, the Predators will get back on the ice this season. In looking to the shortened season, team officials state their belief that this year's team is possibly the best team in the history of the franchise, and that the goal of the organization remains the same, a Stanley Cup for the Nashville Predators.
