A total of 268 Kentucky teachers, including two from Trigg County and two from Caldwell County, were awarded national certification in 2012, helping to rank the state seventh for the number of teachers earning the achievement. National Board Certification is administered by the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards and is considered a top achievement in the profession.
The Trigg County teachers awarded certification were Christa Bush and Lisa Stevens. The Caldwell County teachers awarded certification were David Shaffer and Melinda Smith. Overall in the state, 2,721 teachers have achieved the certification, which places the state 10th nationally in overall number of teachers certified.
