Both the Christian County Sheriff's Department and the Clerk's Office will see a cost of living increase in 2013 as part of the budgets approved Tuesday morning by the Christian County Fiscal Court. Sheriff Livy Leavell says his 3.2 million dollar budget will only require a 1.3 million dollar contribution from the county.
He adds he hopes a 25-thousand dollar increase in the fuel portion of his budget will be adequate.
Leavell says there is also an allotment for nine new vehicles in the budget. Meanwhile, County Clerk Mike Kem proposed a 1.24 million dollar budget this year, which is up 110-thousand dollars. The budget also includes a new server for the clerk's office to share with the sheriff's office as well as a 2.96 percent cost of living increase.
In other business, Fiscal Court approved a 167-thousand dollar payment for the Jail HVAC upgrade, the appointment of Steve Hunt to the Christian County Water District until 2016 and the appointment of Henry Gould to the Solid Waster Authority until 2016.
