Newly elected Kentucky Senate President Robert Stivers will be joining Secretary of State Alison Lundergan-Grimes to help our military have an easier time voting while serving overseas. Grimes' visit to Kuwait, Qatar, and Bahrain in September 2012 opened her eyes to the hardships still facing men and women serving there. She is proposing five improvements, which include the adoption of the uniform military and overseas voting act. Stivers announced Monday that the act would be Senate Bill 1 when the General Assembly converges for its session next month.
Stivers says it is important to make sure the people who are protecting our rights can voice their opinions by casting a ballot in the easiest, simpliest and most timely way possible. Grimes says she knows Stivers and others will do the right thing to help those Kentucky soldiers who are not on American soil during election times.
