The man accused of attacking the owner and robbing the Country Boy store is now facing an indictment following the first meeting this year of the Christian County Grand Jury. The indictment charges 27-year old William Fields of Roaring Spring Road, Cadiz with attempted murder, first degree robbery, possession of a handgun by a convicted felon, and two counts of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, all in connection to the October 31st incident. He was also indicted on two counts of first degree criminal abuse with a victim under the age of 12 years old. His bail was set at 100-thousand dollars.
The court file says he admitted to detectives that he planned to murder Kenneth Golladay, rob the store and dispose of the body. He was reportedly armed with a combat tomahawk, which he hit Golladay in the head with.
Golladay was able to call 9-1-1 and drive himself to Jennie Stuart Medical Center, from which he was flown to Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville. Fields fled all the way to Murray, where he was apprehended by the Murray Police following a be on the lookout sent to law enforcement in western Kentucky. According to his court record, Fields was admitted to the Kentucky Correctional Psychiatric Center in November for an evaluation.
