Traffic on Pembroke Road was restricted for a short period of time Thursday morning as crews from Atmos Energy worked to repair a minor gas leak. Cecilia Cloos, with the Hopkinsville Fire Department, told the News Edge, the problem had to do with a faulty valve that was leaking gas in the area of B & M Industrial Supply.
Firefighters were called to the scene Thursday morning after someone reported an odor of gas and a hissing noise. The leak was located and gas crews were called to the scene. As a precaution, B & M Industrial Supply was evacuated for a short time, and Pembroke Road, at the intersection with the bypass, was shut down, around 11:00am. Once crews from Atmos Energy arrived on the scene, the leak was repaired, and the roadway was opened, after being closed for only about 20-minutes.
