With the arrival of the New Year, the smoking ordinance for the city of Hopkinsville has now gone into effect. Passed back in October by the Hopkinsville City Council, the smoking ban ordinance restricts smoking in all public businesses and establishments including restaurants, workplaces, or places open to the public.
The amendment allows smoking at private clubs and businesses that cater to those over the age of 21. To help businesses prepare for the change, the city of Hopkinsville made Smoke-Free Workplace kits available in late December. The kits contained instructions, "no smoking" decals, a fact sheet, answers to frequently asked questions, and a copy of the smoking ordinance.
