Marshall County Woman Convicted of Manslaughter

After three days of testimony and more than four hours of deliberations a jury found Tiffany Pittman guilty of manslaughter, wanton endangerment, and driving under the influence Friday evening. Pittman was accused of driving drunk and causing a wreck that killed 46-year-old Jimmy Harper on August 15, 2011.

Commonwealth's Attorney Mark Blankenship says the victim's family was disappointed and "wanted a murder conviction for their loved one." A manslaughter conviction carries a 5 to 10 year sentence. If she receives the minimum and her sentences are run concurrently, it could mean 5 years behind bars, but Pittman could receive as much as 15 years behind bars.

She will be sentenced Tuesday in Marshall Circuit Court and Blankenship says he will push for the maximum.
