Hartons Take Second In Farm Bureau Competition

Micheal and Jill Harton from Christian County took second place honors in the Kentucky Farm Bureau Outstanding Young Farm Family competition, with a Larue County couple taking top honors.
The Harton received the recognition at the 93rd annual Kentucky Farm Bureau Meeting in Louisville. With the win, the Hartons receive 250 hours use of a Kubota Tractor, 750 dollars cash from Premier Crop Insurance, an Apple I-Pad2, and other prizes. Michael told the News Edge at the Convention that he is proud to continue the tradition of farming.

Meanwhile Ryan and Misty Bivens were named the outstanding young farm family of the year. The Bivens farm more than six-thousand acres near Hodgensville. Ryan says winning the competition has been a long-time goal for he and his family.

The Bivens won a Case IH Scout, one thousand dollars cash, a gun safe, an all-expense paid trip to the American Farm Bureau Convention in Nashville and other prizes.
Bruce and Charissa Wade from Mercer County took third place.
The News Edge is on hand for the 93rd annual meeting that is taking place at the Galt House in Louisville.
