Hundreds of children were on hand Thursday afternoon for the Fort Campbell tree lighting ceremony, though they were more excited about the special guest who made an appearance after the switch was thrown. 101st Airborne Division Commander, Major General James McConville says he knows the holidays are hard, but military families have one thing they can take solace in.
He was joined by three Fort Campbell children as he threw the switch to light up several trees at McAuliffe Hall. Then as those inside sang a stirring rendition of Santa Clause Is Coming To Town, the big man himself arrived in a lighted sleigh, or Fort Campbell Fire Truck as the case may be.
