In what may have caused many to remember back briefly to the Eggners Ferry Bridge collapse, the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet announced Tuesday night that it received a report through Trigg County Dispatch indicating the navigational lights are out on the US 68/KY 80 Cumberland River/Lake Barkley Bridge, at Canton.
Transportation officials say the outage was immediately reported to the US Coast Guard Operations Center, in Louisville, for broadcast to commercial tow boats in the area. Officials say an electrical crew will be at the bridge to check the lights as soon as possible Wednesday morning.
The navigation lights on the Eggners Ferry Bridge had been scheduled for repair work the day after the Delta Mariner struck the bridge back in January.
