School Board Moves To Finalize Land Purchase

The Christian County Board of Education is moving forward with purchasing some 27 acres on Country Club Lane that adjoins the current Hopkinsville High School property. The Board met in special session Monday night to finalize the purchase, with Board Member Linda Keller saying it will be a good move for future growth.

She adds that it would cost the district more money to pursue building somewhere else. Following Betsy Glover's motion, and Keller's second, the Board unanimously voted to spend the 540,000-dollars for the land, which is tentatively planned to house a new Hopkinsville High School, as the current building is reaching the end of its useful life. The board had previously voted to approve the purchase, but had to receive Kentucky Department of Education approval before it could be finalized.
