From the News Edge: Transportation officials are reporting a traffic backup along the westbound lanes of I-24 in the work zone from near the Kentucky-Tennessee State Line to the Fort Campbell Boulevard exit. The contractor is pouring concrete as part of ongoing pavement rehabilitation work around the 89-mile marker, near the Pembroke-Oak Grove exit. While concrete trucks are moving in and out of this work area delivering material, the traffic backup appears to be more related to heavy traffic along the westbound lanes today. Westbound I-24 traffic in this work zone is backed up about 3 to 4 miles at this time with traffic slowed to about 35 mph in the area. To help reduce traffic congestion in this area, regular commuters who normally travel this section of I-24 westbound are being asked to seek an alternate route, if possible...............................................................................................................................A Night With The Blues is Saturday night at the Alhambra Theatre. Caldwell Falls To Newport Catholic In 2A Final

It was a heartbreaking end to the football season Saturday for Caldwell County and their large contingent of supporters Saturday, as Newport Central Catholic scored with 26-seconds to go in the game to defeat the Tigers 30-26 in the Class 2A Championship at L.T. Smith Stadium, in Bowling Green. Newport's Josh Cain connected on a 4-yard touchdown pass to Tyler Lyon for the deciding score.

The score came after Caldwell County took the lead on Brett Seymore's 19-yard field goal with 2:30 left. The final 14 minutes of the contest saw four lead changes and both crowds standing on their feet as the game headed for its exciting finish. The Tigers had one last chance to pull out a miracle, as they advanced to the 50-yard line, but Elijah Sindelar was sacked on the final play of the game to wrap up the title for Newport.

Sindelar had a big day for Caldwell County, completing 21 of 29 passes for 258 yards and two touchdowns with two interceptions. Senior Tez Sivils had 10 catches for 123 yards and a TD. Sophomore Jaylen Boyd rushed for 92 yards for the Tigers. Caldwell County finished their season with a record of 11-4.
