A Hopkinsville man has been convicted on charges of Wanton Murder and Tampering with Physical Evidence in connection to an October 2010 shooting death. A Christian Circuit Court Jury returned the verdicts late Friday afternoon against Seth Wallen, who was charged in connection with the death of Corey Trice, in what was a drug deal gone bad.
Wallen had confessed that he bought drugs from Trice for 1200-dollars, but then shot Trice in a dispute that followed. Wallen faces a sentence of between 20 and 50 years, or life in prison.
Following the verdict, the sentencing phase of the trial got underway. Jurors heard testimony from Trice's daughter, Wallen's stepfather, and Seth Wallen. After a short deliberation, the jury returned with a recommended sentence of 25-years on the Murder charge and 3 years on the Tampering charge, with the time to run concurrently. Formal sentencing for Wallen was set for February 12th.
