It was a Chocolate Affair


The chocolate fountains were flowing, and a large array of handmade chocolates were spread out on the table including the fantastic center piece. (And yes, the entire thing is chocolate!) The historical home of John Street is always fascinating and each year, there is always something new that you didn't see before. Check out the photos taken by Rachel Longworth.

Woody Winfree Fire and Transportation Museum Officially Open

Thunderstoms and Tornados Strike Listening Area


It appeared to be a beautiful day, but the National Weather Service and Emergency Management continued to warn us that this is not normal weather for February.  By 6pm, weather warnings and alerts were firing, giving listeners a "heads up" that trouble was on the way.  After school activities were cancelled, and then it hit.  Storms including high winds, lightning, hail, and heavy rain struck the listening area.  Tornados were confirmed in Trigg, Christian, and Muhlenberg counties.  Click here for photos and listen for details.

TRIGG COUNTY JUSTICE CENTER PROJECT UPDATE


The Trigg County Justice Center took on some more visual character Wednesday with the addition of the tower toppers at each end.  Each piece weighed 15,000 pounds and were hoisted by a crane, causing Main Street downtown to be closed.  The east tower will house a clock, similar to the courthouse that burned on the same site in 1920.


TRIGG COUNTY HOME DESTROYED BY FIRE MONDAY MORNING


Firefighters from the Linton Volunteer Fire Department and East Golden Pond Volunteer Fire Department battled a wooden single-story house fire off Linton Road at 34 Luttrell Road.  WKDZ/WHVO's Tammy Hancock was on the scene and snapped these pictures.

Tornado Strikes Neighboring Evansville Area


A vicious tornado claimed the lives of at least 22 people in Evansville early Sunday morning, November 6th. The storm made its way across Kentucky with several smaller tornados and high winds doing some damage. Flood of 2005

VALENTINES FOR VETERANS


Over 700 cards have been collected by the American Legion, VFW Post 1930, and the Marine Corps League to distribute to area veterans. The cards were created by Trigg County Elementary School students.

Ham Festival 2005


The Trigg County Country Ham Festival offered fun for everyone. It was held October 14 - 16 in downtown Cadiz. Several events were held prior to the big 3 days of booths, food, and entertainment. This year's theme was "I Still Luv Ham Fest". WKDZ-FM broadcast live Friday 6am-5pm, Saturday 9-5, and Sunday during the parade. We streamed our audio for the first time.

Halloween Safe Night 2005 - Cadiz, Ky

Veterans Parade a Huge Success in 2005


It was a gorgeous day in downtown Cadiz as veterans marched through our Renaissance City.  The entire school system let out for the students to watch the parade leave the Trigg County school's parking lot.  They waved their flags.  They cheered.  They dressed the part.  Thanks to everyone in the community for making our veterans feel appreciated!  It took everyone....

Six area businesses were spotlighted during WKDZ's live coverage.  Eldora's Books, Jim's Music Shoppe, Hot Diggity Dog, Loose Treasures, Miz Malva's Antiques, and Blue Moon Antiques.  Cindy Allen and Beth Mann shopped until they dropped!

Helping Hands Food Drive 2005


The annual Helping Hands Food Drive was held Tuesday, December 13th at Hancock's Neighborhood Market.  Kay Wyatt's 8th Grade Class at Trigg Co. raised 2,000 items to kick off the event!  Helping Hands helps those in need with food, medicine, and basic essentials.  Thanks to everyone for making our food drive such a wonderful event!  We raised approximately 4,500.. ........

Benson International First Day of Production


Nearly 40 workers were on hand for the first day of production (01/03/2006) at the new Benson International Plant in Cadiz.  In the future, the facility will produce dump truck bodies along with other aluminum trailers.  The first to roll off the line with be a 48 foot flat bed.  WKDZ was live for the first weld and opening day of

GFB Welcomes Cadiz Rotary Club with Open Arms
