Large Crowds Attend Farm Transition Seminars

The University of Kentucky College of Agriculture is helping farm family prepare to transition the family farm to the next generation. More than 160 farm families were on hand Friday at the Bruce Convention Center and more than 130 families in Gilbertsville at Kentucky Dam Village Thursday to discuss ways to pass the family farm on to the next generation. Dr. David Kohl, an Agriculture Finance Professor from Virginia Tech, says now is a critical time for agriculture to do this type of planning because seventy percent of farm assets will change hands by 2025.

Dr. Steve Isaacs with the University of Kentucky said the seminars Thursday and Friday were part of a continuing effort by the College of Agriculture.

Also on hand for the seminar were Dave Marris with Ohio State University and attorney Vance Cook from Princeton.
