Governor Beshear has announced that Christian County is among the seven counties across the state to be certified as a Work Ready Community in Progress.
The Work Ready Community certification program from the Kentucky Workforce Investment Board and the Kentucky Education and Workforce Development Cabinet assures employers that a local workforce has the talent and skills necessary to staff existing jobs and to master the innovative technologies new jobs will require.
Achieving the "in progress" designation and working toward the Work Ready Community status gives Christian County an economic advantage when companies are looking for a place to locate. Christian County, as well as Barren, Hart, Monroe, Franklin, McCracken and Pulaski counties were designated as Work Ready Communities in Progress because they are close to meeting the Work Ready Community criteria. To achieve this level, a county must present a viable plan to meet all of the criteria within three years.
