New Pennyrile District Health Department Director Allison Beshear will face some tough funding challenges in her new role.
Trigg County Judge Executive and First District State Senator-elect Stan Humphries, who recently chaired the Pennyrile District Health Board, says the biggest problem facing Beshear and the district is Medicaid Managed Care companies not paying their bills.
Trigg County Health Board Chairman Scott Sutherland said he is excited about Beshear, but agreed that the impact is being felt locally.
When lawmakers return to Frankfort next year, they are expected to continue investigating the failure of Medicaid Managed Care providers not paying bills to health departments, hospitals, physicians and other health care providers in the state.
