The response came after 911 received a call concerning a man threatening to kill himself and his wife, or anyone who tried to enter the residence. Officers arrived on scene and set up a perimeter to safeguard the neighborhood. The owner of the house was known to have a large quantity of weapons inside of his residence. Police say It was not the first time officers had responded to the residence.
A tactical team and negotiators arrived and attempted to contact Hansrote, who was inside. Negotiators were able establish intermittent contact with him, but eventually he refused to communicate further with police. Officers say they could hear shots being fired inside of the house. Around 8:15pm, Hansrote exited the residence and discharged a firearm several times, at which time he was shot. Hansrote was pronounced dead at the scene.
