Cadiz Police Investigate Series Of Burglaries

Cadiz Police are investigating a series of burglaries that occurred overnight at several businesses. According to the report from the Cadiz Police Department, officers were notified around 2:40am by a delivery man that a front door at Hancock's Neighborhood Market, at 44 Commerce Street, had been broken out.

When officers arrived on the scene, they entered the store and determined that a burglary had occurred. As officers finished processing the scene, they noticed a door wedged open at Fortner Gas Company, at 12 Fortner Drive, and determined a burglary had also taken place there.

Through their continued investigation, officers then discovered disabled burglar alarms at Fortner Gas, Goodwin Insurance, at 202 Merchant Street, and El Bracero, at 80 Merchant Street. Officers discovered that forcible entry was made into each of the businesses.

Cadiz Police also found that the perpetrator attempted to gain access to Coldwell Banker, but was unsuccessful. Police say an undetermined amount of cash was taken from each business.

The suspect in the case is described as a white male, between 45 and 55 years old, between 5-8 and 5-10, weighing between 140 and 160 pounds.

A silver vehicle is seen on surveillance video prior to the first burglary, but police are unsure if that vehicle was driven by the suspect.
