Inmate Kills Himself At Hospital



Christian County Deputy Coroner Mike Stokes has confirmed to the News Edge that an inmate at the Christian County Jail shot and killed himself while being treated in the Emergency Room at Jennie Stuart Medical Center Saturday Afternoon.

Kentucky State Police, who are handling the investigation, say the inmate, who was a man from the Paducah area, and had been transported to the Emergency Room around Noon Saturday, after sustaining an injury at the Christian County Jail.

While at the hospital, the inmate was able to get the gun from a Deputy Jailer, and then retreat to the area where he was being treated, and shot himself. State Police say the man was jailed on a probation violation.

The incident reportedly occurred around 2:40pm.
The inmate's body has been transported to the Medical Examiner's office, in Louisville, for an autopsy.
