Officials tell the News Edge firefighters from all four stations were called to the manufacturing plant on Bill Bryan Boulevard around 10 Sunday morning for a fire in the wax pit. The heated oil, used to keep the wax in a liquid state, reportedly sprung a leak causing the insulation around the wax to catch fire. The report says the outer casing on the pit was removed and dry chem extinguishers were used to put out the blaze.
Employees working at the facility were evacuated. Nearly half a million dollars in damage and lost production was caused to Metulsa and fire officials say they are going to have to spend nearly 50-thousand dollars to replace gear damaged or exhausted in fighting the fire.
