From the News Edge: Transportation officials are reporting a traffic backup along the westbound lanes of I-24 in the work zone from near the Kentucky-Tennessee State Line to the Fort Campbell Boulevard exit. The contractor is pouring concrete as part of ongoing pavement rehabilitation work around the 89-mile marker, near the Pembroke-Oak Grove exit. While concrete trucks are moving in and out of this work area delivering material, the traffic backup appears to be more related to heavy traffic along the westbound lanes today. Westbound I-24 traffic in this work zone is backed up about 3 to 4 miles at this time with traffic slowed to about 35 mph in the area. To help reduce traffic congestion in this area, regular commuters who normally travel this section of I-24 westbound are being asked to seek an alternate route, if possible...............................................................................................................................A Night With The Blues is Saturday night at the Alhambra Theatre. Cadiz Police Chief Testifies In Murder Trial

Testimony in the Claude Russell murder trial continued Thursday with testimony from one of the first responders. Cadiz Police Chief Hollis Alexander took the stand and underwent several hours of questioning, including whether or not he was a suspect in the case.

Russell’s attorney, John Stewart, asked Chief Alexander about the anonymous letter from 2009.

Also testifying Thursday was Rodney Phillips, and one of the first questions asked of him by Commonwealth’s Attorney GL Ovey was about his involvement in Chantel Humphries’ death.

Kentucky State Police Detective Michelle Kent, who was lead investigator in the case, took the stand Thursday morning and testified about her role as well as the work she’s done in the case since 2003.

She also testified that she was not aware of the anonymous letter sent to Lieutenant Brent White in December 2009.
Defense attorney, John Stewart questioned Kent about a receipt from White's Automotive, which places Chantel at the repair shop the day of her disappearance.

The timeline was handwritten by Sergeant Eric Walker and then typed by Kent.  The detective also testified that she did not agree with Walker when he wanted to arrested Russell in 2002 and that she has had disagreements with new lead detective Steve Silfees.
