Testimony surrounding the death of Chantel Humphries is expected to get underway Wednesday afternoon at the Trigg County Justice Center. Commonwealth’s Attorney G.L. Ovey and defense attorney John Stewart spent over an hour Wednesday morning questioning the juror panel to make sure they could be impartial. Ovey reminded the potential jurors that the past two days have had a purpose.
He added that the goal was to find 14 unbiased people.
Russell’s attorney, Stewart also asked the jurors how they felt about the case.
Attorneys are going to return to the courtroom Wednesday afternoon with a list of people who they would like to strike from the potential jury pool and the 14 jurors who are left will, shortly afterwards, hear opening remarks from the Commonwealth and possibly the defense. The News Edge will be at the Trigg County Justice Center to bring you the latest information from the case and when opening remarks get underway listeners will be able to hear those at wkdzradio.com’s live stream.
