Councilwoman Ann Cherry Served Criminal Summons

Kentucky State Police have confirmed that Hopkinsville City Councilwoman Ann Cherry was served Friday with a sealed criminal summons. The summons came about as the result of an indictment from the Christian County Grand Jury. State Police add that the Hopkinsville Police Department requested the summons be served by the State Police.

According to public records, the charges against Hopkinsville City Councilwoman Ann Cherry are: Tampering with Public Records, which is a Class D Felony; Tampering with a Witness, which is a Class D Felony; and 2nd Degree Official Misconduct, which is a Class B Misdemeanor. Cherry is scheduled to be arraigned on August 29th in Christian Circuit Court

Reports to the News Edge indicate the charges could be related to a series of emails that were circulated by Cherry concerning several prowling incidents that occurred on the southside of Hopkinsville.  Reports also indicate the indictment could involve the release of a video of the suspected prowler to a Nashville television station.

Cherry currently represents Ward 6 on the Hopkinsville City Council.
