Cumberland River Compact Meetings Turn Up Concerns For Little River

Now that the Cumberland River Compact has a general idea of what Trigg and Christian County residents are facing, officials will be setting up meetings to help educate the public.

Watersheds Program Director Laura Alex Ganus says there were a few concerns voiced in Trigg County.

Ganus says these listening sessions were to help the Compact with its goals.

According to Ganus, this follows the recent evaluation by the state of waters in the area and their safety ratings.  She says they will now work to education residents in various areas of interest.

Trigg and Christian County residents were given the opportunity to voice concerns about the Little River and its tributaries as well as Lake Barkley during three meetings with the Cumberland River Compact officials.  The Cumberland River Compact encompasses 18,000 square miles in Kentucky and Tennessee that surround the Cumberland River and its tributaries, including Lake Barkley.
