From the News Edge: Transportation officials are reporting a traffic backup along the westbound lanes of I-24 in the work zone from near the Kentucky-Tennessee State Line to the Fort Campbell Boulevard exit. The contractor is pouring concrete as part of ongoing pavement rehabilitation work around the 89-mile marker, near the Pembroke-Oak Grove exit. While concrete trucks are moving in and out of this work area delivering material, the traffic backup appears to be more related to heavy traffic along the westbound lanes today. Westbound I-24 traffic in this work zone is backed up about 3 to 4 miles at this time with traffic slowed to about 35 mph in the area. To help reduce traffic congestion in this area, regular commuters who normally travel this section of I-24 westbound are being asked to seek an alternate route, if possible...............................................................................................................................A Night With The Blues is Saturday night at the Alhambra Theatre. Bridge Structure May Be Shifting
It appears the remaining structure of the Eggner Ferry Bridge may be shifting. Saturday afternoon a LBL Ranger noticed that something had apparently changed on the bridge. Deck guardrail where the deck transitions from an approach span to the last truss span is now showing signs of being bent where the two spans join. Inspectors say this may provide an additional indication that a pier on the truss section has shifted since Friday. Pictures are courtesy of Keith Todd with the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet.
