From the Weather Edge: Forecasters say isolated severe thunderstorms will be possible late Thursday afternoon into Thursday evening. The Storm Prediction Center has placed the area south of a line from just south of Paducah to near Owensboro under a slight risk of severe weather for that time period.

Inspection Team Examines Bridge Piers


State highway officials say a Kentucky Transportation Cabinet bridge inspection team inspected 4 piers on the Eggner's Ferry Bridge Thursday as part of an ongoing detailed review of the structure.

Delta Mariner Moves


After more than a week in the same location, the Delta Mariner moved away from the site of the collapsed Eggner's Ferry Bridge Monday. The cargo ship was moved a short distance away from the accident site, and the area was re-opened to recreational boat traffic.

Delta Mariner Moved From Accident Site


Coast Guard and Transportation officials confirmed Monday that the salvage operation of the Delta Mariner has progressed far enough that Foss Maritime is moving the cargo ship. Lt. Jennifer Jesse, with the US Coast Guard, says the Delta Mariner will be moving down river a short way to shallower water for the 3rd phase of the salvage.

Hundreds of people took time to walk over one quarter of a mile to see the partially collapsed Eggners Ferry Bridge from the Land Between the Lakes side Saturday.  The News Edge was on hand to see those who came to take a look.

Bridge Structure May Be Shifting

Cold weather may have hampered turnout for Saturday's Trigg County Volunteer Fire Department Recruitment Day at the Cadiz Fire Department.  On hand for the event was Kentucky Firefighter Recruiter Pat Thompson.  Also on display was the Kentucky Fire Recruitment and History Trailer.

The Cadiz/TC Chamber of Commerce held their first meeting of the new year Thursday, January 11, at Renaissance Center. Christian Care Center of Kuttawa sponsored the lunch and the program. 

Hancock's Neighborhood Market was awarded the Hopkinsville/Christian County Quality Service Award for the month of January.

Kids Art Exhibit


The Kids Art exhibit is on display at the Janice Mason Art Museum through February 12.  Cindy Allen Lax made a stop into the museum, snapped a few pictures, but there are 400 to enjoy from K-Intermediate students from Trigg County Schools.

Ribbon Cutting


The Hopkinsville/Christian County Chamber of Commerce held the first ribbon cutting of the year today at Paul Davis Emergency Services of Hopkinsville.

New Christian County Middle School


The new Christian County Middle School will officially open for students on January 17th. The News Edge got an advanced tour of this "state of the art" facility. Click here to see pictures.

Jan Drive Fire


A residence at 1729 Jan Drive in Hopkinsville was extensively damaged by fire. A woman and child who were at home when the fire broke out were able to safely escape the fire. Hopkinsville Deputy Fire Chief Eric Bleidt said windy conditions made fighting the fire more difficult.
