Winter Weather Advisory Issued For All Of Western Kentucky

The National Weather Service in Paducah has issued a Winter Weather Advisory in effect until midnight Monday for all of western Kentucky.

Meteorologists indicate total snow accumulations of up to two inches are expected, with winds gusting up to 35 mph.

Motorists should slow down and be prepared for scattered slippery road conditions, which could impact the evening commute. Snow accumulation may be higher on grassy and elevated surfaces and lower on area roads.

In addition, according to the National Weather Service, bitter, record or near-record cold is forecast late Monday night through Tuesday. Wind chill temperatures behind an arctic cold front will fall to near zero to 5 above by early Tuesday morning, due to strong north winds 10 to 20 mph and gusty, with lows ranging from 14 to 19 degrees. Tuesday, highs will only recover into the mid-20s to near 30, with cold wind chill temperatures continuing.

Please check on our elderly neighbors during this time, and don’t forget your outdoor pets. If you can’t bring them inside, make sure they have a warm shelter our of the wind with lots of straw and blankets, as well as unfrozen water and food.
