Before he stepped down from the State Senate, former Senate President David Williams granted pay raises of between 2 and 14-percent for eight State Senate staff members. The Courier-Journal reports the pay raises went to his Williams' chief of staff and deputy chief of staff, two other members of his Republican leadership staff, and to four staff members of Senate Democrats.
Williams said he approved the raises to keep good workers from taking other jobs and to make the workers' pay on the same level as staff working for the State House.
