Whitfield Votes For Save American Workers Act

First District Congressman Ed Whitfield Thursday voted for the passage of the Save American Workers Act of 2014. The measure passed the U.S. House of Representatives by a vote of 248 to 179. According to a news release from Whitfield's office, the bipartisan legislation repeals the Obamacare mandated 30 hour per week definition of fulltime employment and replaces it with the traditional 40 hour definition that has been in place for decades.

Whitfield notes the change would be made with respect to the employer mandate to provide health insurance also required by Obamacare. He added that there have been numerous reports that many employers throughout Kentucky and the United States have faced cutting back the hours of employees, altering their benefit plans, or dropping health coverage all together because of the employer mandate regulation.
