Trigg Fiscal Court spent most of Monday night's meeting discussing the problems with the 2011 Audit report released last month. The report identified four problems with the county's financial reporting system, none of them major. According to County Treasurer Lucy Oliver, the incomplete records reported in the audit are mainly due to differences in the way auditors want to see information recorded.
The audit also pointed out an improperly discarded firearm, which Oliver says is not as alarming as it may sound.
Two other items flagged on the audit include financial activity that was not listed on the court's quarterly statements. Oliver says one issue involves the Trigg County Justice Center.
The final issue with the Trigg County Senior Center is similar, in that the county makes payments on the building but does not pay operational costs. Oliver is working to correct the record-keeping problems to align with state audit requests.
