A Fort Campbell soldier convicted in October of killing his wife in 2009 was formally sentenced to six years in prison Tuesday. According to the Leaf Chronicle, 35-year old Jonathan Downing was convicted of Voluntary Manslaughter for shooting his wife Sena ten times following an argument on September 8, 2009.
Downing claimed that he didn't plan the shooting and that he had no memory of the incident. Downing was originally charged with 1st Degree Murder, but was convicted by the jury on the lesser charge. Due to the seriousness of the crime, the judge in the case sentenced Downing to the maximum sentence.
