United States Senator Mitch McConnell says he is proud of the accomplishments of Trigg County native, Brigadier General Scott Howell, and other top commanders in Afghanistan. Senator McConnell told the News Edge, during an exclusive interview Monday, that he recently met with General Howell when he traveled to Afghanistan.
General Howell, who is the son of J.D. and Carolyn Howell, of Trigg County, is Deputy Commander for NATO Special Operations Command in Afghanistan. Senator McConnell says he is continuing to track the progress in Afghanistan.
The Senator adds everything is on track for handing over the security of the country to the Afghan Army.
Senator McConnell also discussed what he wants to hear the President talk about during the State of the Union Address Tuesday night, which is gun control and healthcare reform.
