Senator McConnell Endorses Industrial Hemp Bill

United States Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell is supporting the effort by Kentucky Commissioner of Agriculture James Comer and fellow Senator Rand Paul to allow Kentucky farmers to grow industrial hemp.
Senator McConnell says in a news release that after long discussions with Senator Paul and Commissioner Comer he is convinced allowing the production of industrial hemp will be a positive development for Kentucky's farm families and the economy. McConnell adds he was assured by Commissioner Comer that his office is committed to pursuing industrial hemp production in a way that does not compromise Kentucky law enforcement's marijuana eradication efforts or in any way to promote illegal drug use.
Kentucky Senate Bill 50, that was introduced by Senator Paul Hornback, is continuing to gain support after being endorsed by Congressmen John Yarmuth and Thomas Massie, along with the Northern Kentucky Chamber of Commerce.
