A strong final day by the Calloway County duo of Bracken Robertson and Dillon Starks saw them claim the first Kentucky State High School Bass Fishing Tournament on Kentucky Lake.  Trigg County finished in fifth place.

Starks and Robertson caught five fish totaling 18 pounds, eight ounces today - which was the biggest haul of the day. Their two-day total was 34 pounds, four ounces.

The day one leaders -- Muhlenberg County's Zack Warner and Ridge Porter -- caught 16 pounds, four ounces on the second day and finished nearly two pounds behind the leaders.

Trigg County's Mason Shelton and Austin Greene improved from 10th place after the first day to fifth place overall after catching 16 pounds and 15 ounces today for a total of 29 pounds, nine ounces.  The day two total was the third most of the 42 teams.

Trigg's Hunter Allen and Adam Fitch had the second-highest day two total with five fish at 17 pounds and finished 14th overall.

Trigg's third qualifier of Shelby Johnson and Nick Summers finished in 20th place with a total of 20 pounds, eight ounces.

Muhlenberg County's James Hampton caught the biggest fish of the tournament, weighing in at 6 pounds, 7 ounces, which helped his team to a fourth place finish.

Bass fishing was one of three sanctioned sports added by the KHSAA this year, joining cheerleading and archery.  Trigg County won the high school archery title and finished fifth in the bass fishing.
