Trigg County Releases 2013 Football Schedule

Trigg County has added some new faces to its 2013 football schedule, with every game featuring a new start time.

With the exception of the David Sadler/Kentucky Machine Bowl Sept. 7, all Trigg County games -- home and away -- will begin at 7pm instead of the past 7:30 kickoffs.

Trigg County opens their season August 23 against Russellville at Perdue Field.  The Panthers were 8-4 last year and beat Trigg 25-14 in the season opener.

Trigg's first road game is August 30 at Marshall County.  Last year, Trigg County played Todd County Central in the second week, but the Rebels adjusted their schedule and opted out of the game with the Wildcats.

Trigg County last played Marshall County in 1994 and is 4-7 all-time against the Marshals.  Last year, Marshall County was 5-6.

The third week of the season features the annual David Sadler/Kentucky Machine Bowl on Saturday, Sept. 7 at Perdue Field.

The first game of the doubleheader features Calloway County (5-6) and Hancock County (9-3) in the 5pm opener.  Calloway County will be making their seventh appearance in the Trigg County bowl game since 2001, while Hancock County will be making their first appearance.

The 8pm nightcap features Trigg County and Hopkinsville (3-8).  They have met just once in the bowl game history -- a 37-24 Hoptown win in 2010 which was also the last time the schools played.

On Sept. 13, Trigg County will host border rival and Class 2A state runner-up Caldwell County (11-4) at Perdue Field. Trigg beat Caldwell 38-37 last year in a game stopped early due to a thunderstorm.

Trigg County finishes a three-game homestand Sept. 20 when they host Union County (5-6). It will be the first game between the schools since 1996, with Trigg leading the all-time series 4-3.

The Wildcats hit the road Sept. 27 to face Hopkins County Central in Morton's Gap. The Storm were winless last year and have lost 15 straight games dating back to 2011.  Trigg is 5-1 all-time against the Storm and won the last game played between the two 16-13 in 2010.

Trigg County's open week will be October 4 before they enter district play the following week Oct. 11 at Webster County. It's the second straight season Trigg will play in Dixon after a 35-0 win there last year.  Trigg is 17-4 all-time vs. the Trojans.

The key part of Trigg's schedule begins Oct. 11 when the Wildcats host Paducah Tilghman in their final regular season home game.  Trigg lost 21-6 to the Blue Tornado last year and has never beaten Tilghman in three career meetings.

Trigg County will try and snap a six-game losing streak against Fort Campbell on Oct. 18 on post. The Falcons beat Trigg 56-40 in a shootout last year.

Trigg County ends their season November 1 at Calloway County, a team they lost to 35-28 in last year's season finale.

With Heath no longer a football program due to consolidation, Trigg County's 3-A, District One is a four-team district which means they automatically qualify for the playoffs.

The Wildcats are looking to rebound from a 5-6 record last year that saw them drop five of their last seven games.
